    The lodge’s main building is home to the bar and restaurant, as well as an open chimney; the ideal spot to have a local beer and trade stories with fellow travelers. Each of the 12 private bungalows contains a fireplace and a lounge corner. All bathrooms contain a bath, separate stone shower and flush toilet. Electricity is supplied by Virunga Energies’ hydroelectric station, guaranteeing a constant supply if power through round, 2 pin, EU standard plugs.

    During your stay, you’ll be able to visit the orphaned mountain gorillas at the Senkwekwe Centre; as well as the Congohounds, Virunga’s canine anti-poaching unit. The Mahura forest is interspersed with a multitude if path which can be explored on birding walks and to look for some of the primate species that call it home. You can also join our community rangers at dawn for a chimp habituation trek.
